THE WALK
Purpose of the walk:
To raise funds for
scholarship(s) and educational funding to aid students
obtaining a higher education. A scholarship has been
established at the University of New Haven for students
pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice or Forensics, and
another one at Sleepy Hollow High School in memory of
Jessica N. Santos, who was the innocent victim of a
drive-by-shooting. Jessica, a 2005 graduate of Sleepy
Hollow HS, was to be a sophomore at UNH pursuing her life
long dream of law enforcement and becoming an investigator
with the FBI.
Registration:
As part of the fundraiser,
pre-registration is available for a small donation which entitles
you to an event tee-shirt and water bottle. We
will also provide water and baked goods for the walkers at
Patriots Park before the event starts.
Registration will be available the day of the
event between 10:00am and 11:00am; however, we cannot
guarantee the availability of event products for late
registrants.
Walk/Route:
10:00am - Gather
at
Patriot’s Park located on Broadway (by the
Warner Library & across from John Paulding School).
If you are
from out of the area, park your car at Pierson Park and
complimentary van service will be provided to Patriots Park
between 9:30am and 10:30am.
11:00am
-
opening ceremonies and procession down
Broadway, to Main Street, over the H bridge (overpass) and
end up at Pierson Park.
Noon -
Memorial
tree will be planted and dedicated with a
plaque in memory of Jessica followed by the butterfly
release to honor and celebrate what would've been Jessica's
20th birthday.
FAMILY FUN
DAY
Pierson Park:
Noon - 5:00pm
A wholesome, family fun day for the community
with proceeds going towards scholarship funds and in
celebration of what would have been Jessica's 20th
birthday. Plans include:

Food Vending including;
popcorn, cotton candy, rainbow sherbet

Bounce castle, mini hoops
and other fun activities

Red Rocket Band and DJ

featuring butterfly themed jewelry
